"Wax"
How do you think we'll be remembered?
Will the town raise statues in our honor?
No?
What about Madame Tussaud?
Will her ghost recreate our figures for all to admire?
Here stands Cissy Stag.
5'5".
Taller in heels... and bad at math...
Will she capture the look in my eyes?
If so, which one?
Sadness?
Anger?
Fear?
What about the glimmer in my eyes?
You know the one.
On nights when my pupils grow large,
And the stars shine much brighter...
What about my irises?
Will they be rich like amber or just... brown?
Themes: Legacy, self-perception, identity.
Analysis: Wax contemplates how individuals are remembered and perceived, asking whether they will be immortalized or reduced to mere remnants of their former selves. The poem explores the concept of legacy, questioning the impermanence of one's identity and how it can be shaped by external forces or internal reflection.
