“Aesthetic Perfection”

Have you ever searched for love in someone because they complemented your aesthetic?
I have.
His irises matched my headboard…
And that was enough for me.
He bared his heart, and I bared my body.
In the blink of an eye, I was hooked.
He was perfect.
On the surface at least…
He spoke, and I listened.
I quickly grew to know him,
And I knew that I wouldn’t need to mirror him to match his soul.
But he didn’t know me.
In fact…
He never even asked.

Themes: Love at first sight, superficial attraction, emotional depth.

Analysis: Aesthetic Perfection captures the allure of love at first sight, exploring the magnetic attraction that draws two people together. However, the poem also reveals the emptiness that may accompany superficial attraction when there’s no deeper emotional connection. It examines the fleeting nature of infatuation and the unspoken truths that often linger beneath surface-level connections.
